Panorama Mountain Village is the first ski resort in the region to embrace a new GPS-based mobile phone app in partnership with Satsports, makers of SatSki.

The app, which boasts new features and a slick new user interface for the upcoming season, has been used by hundreds of thousands of skiers and riders around the world since it was first introduced. This smartphone application will allow Android, iPhone and Windows mobile users to track and share their days at Panorama Mountain Village like never before.

“SatSki allows skiers and boarders to connect, share and even compete in a completely new way,” said Cory Leis, spokesperson for Satsports.

By gaining access to the resort’s trail map with GPS point-to-point navigation, guests can track where they have skied on the mountain with real-time speed, distance and vertical with replays of the entire day using either the Trail Map view or Google Earth. The app can also be used at other SatSki participating resorts.

Passholders will either receive an e-mail or they can go to Panorama’s Guest Services to get download instructions and an activation code. Panorama guests who do not hold a season pass can purchase the SatSki mobile app from the link on the Panorama website (www.panoramaresort.com/mobile-app) for $3.99, a discount of 20 percent.

Skiers and riders using Satski will have the ability to upload their recorded day to www.luvthesnow.com, an online ski community that ranks skiers and boarders from around the world on various recorded stats and makes them eligible for thousands of dollars in prizes. Joining luvthesnow.com is free and every post increases the chances of winning. Skiers and riders of all abilities are encouraged to ski and post often.

Panorama is also the first ski resort to offer guests with SatSki a web-based leaderboard where guests can see where they rank among other Panorama visitors. The leaderboard will be launched on Panorama’s new social media page, the Warming Hut (www.panoramaresort.com/warming-hut).
